A few weeks ago I had the tremendous honor to teach yoga to 30 Syrian refugee kids between the age of 8 and 12 years old at their school camp, in the Bekaa valley. An experience that will remain forever etched in my heart and soul for various reasons, the most paramount being the unprecedented realization that we are deeply all one and the same, despite our superficial differences.
This upcoming event revolves around the idea of coming together and creating an artistic exchange through yoga and music, between the yoga community and these kids who have lost their homes, their parents and friends, their life really.
An amazing opportunity to remember how fortunate we all are to have a body capable of moving, the ultimate abode of the soul. How incredible it is that we are graced with breath as the manifestation of life’s magic, a heart to give and receive, and spirit to thrive in earnestness. These are the ultimate benevolent gifts of life, and no matter where we live, who we are, what we do and how far we drift away from home, practicing together under one sun to the beat of one tune, makes us all spiritual refugees guiding each other to the only home that really matters: compassionate love for all beings.
On THURSDAY OCTOBER 1st, let’s all come together for a special yoga/ music event held at the Syrian refugee school camps in the Bekaa Valley. A joint venture with BEYOND ASSOCIATION supported by UNICEF.
